Oklahoma avoids being the shame of a nation today

gosslip

Oklahoma Governor, Mary Fallin, has stayed the execution of Richard Glossip for 37 days to investigate lethal injection protocols.

This comes on the heels of a letter issued to the Governor from the pope on September 19th, requesting her interjection.

In a country that in many ways is the model of global emulation, this draconian behavior casts great shame across a great nation. In the Christian faith, it is readily accepted that only God can take life, so the very idea that pro-life proponents, who are overwhelmingly also proponents of capital punishment, escapes rational thought. It further escapes reasonable thought when considering the fact that proponents of the death penalty often identify themselves as conservatives, who despise big government, which begs the question; Is there a bigger government authority than the ability to kill its own people?

If you can truly reconcile this, pass the Kool-Aid; it must be delicious.

If none of this gives you cause for hesitation, rest comfortable knowing that we are in great company in the countries that still utilize capital punishment. North Korea, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, to name just a few – all our partners in peace.

Again, if you can reconcile that company, pass the Kool-Aid; it must be delicious.

Kim Davis met with the pope…. or did she?

davis

According to Kim Davis, she and her husband met secretly with the pope while he was in Washington. While the Vatican is not denying the meeting, they are also not confirming it. If nothing else, we can at least hope that if the meeting occurred, her husband had the respect to wear something more appropriate than the last time we saw him, but I had the same thought when I saw a man wearing a Dale Earnhardt shirt and hat and tattered shorts at Mass on Sunday, so I may not be the person to talk to on this largely non-existent issue.

Francis continues to disappoint the SSPX

marcel

From what I have gathered from this article, is that they are unhappy with the pope, which should come to none as a surprise, but the tenor of this article is more relaxed than we’ve grown accustomed to, but they are particularly upset with the ambiguity delivered by the pope while in the United States.

While it may only be conjecture, my grasp is that their belief is that the ambiguity that so angers them gives the allusion to bad Catholics that they are good Catholics, and this sullies the names of good Catholics. They are also pissed about relaxed stance on annulments.

Donald Trump’s model calls Pope Francis a “False Prophet” and wins ‘moron of the day’ award

popemodel

I don’t want to spend a whole lot of time writing about this article, and mainly because there are two salient facts here:

  1. She’s a Trump employee and;
  2. This story came from the NY Post.

But if we can suspend these facts, and reality while we’re at it, it seems as though maybe a sandcastle’s worth of cocaine or something similar induced such disjointed “thoughts”.

She called Francis a “False Prophet”, “The Antithesis of Christ” and says he flashed a hand gesture that she claimed links him to the “sect of satanists called The Illuminati.”

While doing some research on this article, I looked into the history of Congressional Chaplain. It turns out there have only been two Catholic Chaplain’s. The last two.

Wu-Tang Clan defines the role of the Pope

RZA

I’ve touched upon a little on the persistent insistence that Pope Francis is deeply concerned with American politics. I’ve read countless articles, another one today, that presents this claim. It’s hard to put too fine a point on the fact that the pope, any pope has no deep rooted interest in American politics, unless just maybe, they play a game akin to fantasy football with politicians as the players. If we couple this with the knowledge that the Italian mafia has had its hooks in the Catholic Church, it isn’t entirely implausible. Well, maybe it is – at least it’s not more probable than not.

Many people taking this stance bring up Laudato Si and its chapters on climate change. They also talk about the pope evoking Dorothy Day. They talk about the pope excluding the word ‘abortion’ while including the words, ‘death penalty’.

The people leave out the elements of the encyclical that speak to joy and peace, or to the Gospel of Creation. They leave out the part about Dorothy Day that is the center of her legacy – her steadfast work with the poor and homeless, and finally, the pope, no matter how much editing you do, spoke on the protection of life in all stages.

So what does the Pope do? For that, we turn to the master wordsmith, de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, Rza. In what was one of the greatest albums ever released, “Enter the Wu (36 Chambers), Rza offers us this simple explanation of the role of the Pope, “Flowin’ like Christ when I speak The Gospel”.

To strike a more personal association to the Pope and the Wu-Tang Clan, I was coming home from a late evening with friends in Chicago, and while we all had varying tastes in music, the driver put in this CD, and the entire car, for the entire ride home, sang the whole thing. As the pope, the Wu are also unifiers.

There is an opinion article written by John Fea, posted on the Fox News site, who summarizes exactly what I have said, albeit in a different prose. He says, “Pope Francis is neither liberal nor conservative, a Democrat or a Republican. He is a Catholic”.

No snide title – John Wall donates 400K to fight child homelessness

john wall

Wizards guard, John Wall, made a large donation to Bright Beginnings, a child-development center in Washington that helps out homeless children and families. While it is possible that the donation occurring during the Pope’s visit which brought a prominent message of selflessness, it is also more probably than not that he was moved by the message. Either way, we salute, Mr. Wall.

“Ann Coulter was right about Francis”, says village idiot

jerk

If you read anything today, read this. This is filled with satirical gold, despite that not being the intent… I think. It’s hard to take someone serious that calls the Pope, “A man who hates the Faith” (Moron, 2015) while claiming Ann Coulter to be correct. She once claimed that liberals wouldn’t even go to war if aliens invaded the country. I mean, she’s a satirist’s satirist; the pinnacle of the game.
